Identification of Terpenoid Compounds Derived from the Essential Oil of Gundelia tournefortii L. in the Parts of the Central Zagros Region, Iran
Terpenoid compounds have many applications in various pharmaceutical and industrial fields. The only species of the genus Gundelia in Iran's Flora is Gundelia tournefortii L. which belongs to the Asteraceae family. The aim of the current study was to identify the existing terpenoids compounds from the essential oil of the mentioned plant. In order to, the essential oil of the plants was extracted via the hydro distillation method using a Clevenger apparatus and the existing terpenoids compounds were identified using GC/MS. The results showed that there were 20 terpenoids compounds in the volatile oil of G. tournefortii L. Finally, Terpenoids compounds with the highest percentages in the aerial parts of Gundelia tournefortii L. essential oil were phytol (3.6 %), β-Turmerone (3.4 %) and Dihydro aromadendrene (2.35 %), respectively.
